Anna Österholm has been named interim associate director for faculty engagement at the Institute for Matter and Systems (IMS), effective Nov. 1.
In this role, Österholm will provide strategic leadership for IMS faculty engagement, strengthening connections among faculty, IMS-supported centers, programs and initiatives, and partners across Georgia Tech. She will help identify opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, support the development of research initiatives, and ensure faculty perspectives help shape IMS programs and priorities.
Österholm is a principal research scientist with IMS and the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry. She also serves as coordinator of the IMS Graduate Apprenticeship Program. Her research focuses on the structure-property relationships of conjugated organic molecules and polymers, organic electronics, electrochromism, solution processing of polymers, and conjugated polymer electrochemistry.
Österholm has been at Georgia Tech since 2012. She earned a doctorate in analytical electrochemistry from Åbo Akademi University in Finland and has worked in the field of electroactive polymers for two decades. She has contributed to more than 70 research articles, authored two book chapters on electrochromism, and is a co-inventor on six patents involving electrochromic polymers and small molecules.
