Congratulations to Xiao Liu, David M. McKenney Family Associate Professor and ISyE alumni Guanzhou Wei (Ph.D. '25) and Feng Qiu (Ph.D. '13), recipients of the 2025 Frank Wilcoxon Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for applied statistics research.
The award recognizes their paper, “Convolutional Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process and its Application to Wildfire Ignition Risk Quantification for Power Delivery Networks,” published in Technometrics. Their research advances methods for assessing wildfire ignition risk in power delivery networks, demonstrating the real-world impact of statistical innovation.
Presented annually by the American Statistical Association and the American Society for Quality, the Frank Wilcoxon Prize honors the best practical application paper published in Technometrics.
The award was presented at the 2026 Fall Technical Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.
