The Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience (IBB) is pleased to announce new leadership and membership for its External Advisory Board, which provides strategic guidance to help advance the institute's mission of accelerating interdisciplinary research and innovation. 

Erin Dasher has been appointed chair of the External Advisory Board, and Vincent Ling will serve as vice chair. Dasher is founder and CEO of Glui Inc., a global advertising company creating engagement experiences across digital platforms. A seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and attorney, she brings more than 25 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions. Ling is chief business officer at Morphocell Technologies, where he leads commercialization of regenerative medicine technologies. He has more than 30 years of biotechnology leadership experience spanning cell therapies, protein engineering, and biopharmaceutical innovation. 

IBB extends its sincere appreciation to outgoing board chair Chris Gemmiti for his outstanding leadership and service to the institute. The institute also thanks Linda Griffith for her valued contributions as a member of the External Advisory Board. Their expertise and commitment have helped shape IBB's continued growth and impact. 

The institute is also pleased to welcome six new members to the External Advisory Board: 

  • Christopher Cashman, chief executive and advisor in the medical device, biologics, and advanced manufacturing sectors, with extensive leadership experience in public and private companies. 
  • Rachel Cassidy, senior go-to-market and ecosystem executive with more than 30 years of experience building global innovation partnerships across the technology industry. 
  • Shawn P. Davis, CEO of Liberate Bio, where he leads the development of next-generation delivery technologies for genetic medicines and brings more than two decades of biotechnology and pharmaceutical leadership. 
  • Charles A. Gersbach, director of the Duke Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies and the John W. Strohbehn Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, internationally recognized for his work in genome editing and gene therapy. 
  • Todd McDevitt, vice president and head of Cell Therapy Research at Genentech, who leads development of cell-based therapies and previously founded Georgia Tech's Stem Cell Engineering Center. 
  • Ridhi Tariyal, co-founder and CEO of NextGen Jane, whose work combines biotechnology, data science, and women's health to advance molecular understanding of uterine biology.

Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and IBB’s Executive Director. "We are grateful to our outgoing members for their dedicated service and look forward to working with our new leadership and board members as we continue to advance transformative bioengineering and bioscience research." 

The External Advisory Board brings together leaders from industry, academia, and entrepreneurship to provide strategic guidance that supports IBB's research, education, commercialization, and partnerships.
